| About Managed Dynamic Servers |
|
One Virtuozzo VPS on a server provides dedicated functionality and it can take advantage of Virtuozzo management enhancements including automated provisioning, seamless server migrations, and resource upgrades. The VPS owner can stop, start and reboot the VPS, which minimizes calls to technical support. Also, the unique virtualization layer provides an extra layer of security against attacks such as DoS. |

VIRTUALIZATION - "THE FUTURE"
Many industry experts and technology specialists predict that in the near future, all servers will be virtualized. The management benefits, the ease of moving content between physical servers and the irrelevance to underlying hardware makes virtualization technology the ideal infrastructure for all servers. As with most technology, the hosting industry is leading this revolution by embracing virtualization technology now. A recent issue of the WHIR showed that shared hosting was 88% of the market and that dedicated was a mere 3% of the market*. Much of the dedicated hosting market is moving toward virtual infrastructure to either provide a more manageable and profitable managed offering, or to provide additional levels of service between shared and dedicated hosting. |

1) Why is a MDS better than a dedicated server?
MDS technology today is often mistaken as the middle step between shared and dedicated hosting. In fact, there are many advantages to its underlying Virtual Environment (VE) technology that make it superior to traditional dedicated server solutions for most applications. One key advantage compared to any hosting environment is uptime. If your server ever experiences a catastrophic problem and is unable to start up again, WMS is able to take your whole server environment and transfer it to another server. No need to mess with DNS propagation, IP settings, or re-setting up your user accounts. Virtualization makes it possible to mirror your server with minimal downtime and frustration. |

2)Is a MDS plan worth the money?
When it comes down to it, the short answer is yes. It does not matter if you are the only one working at your business or you have thousands of employees, any business online thrives from your site being accessible at all times. There is no better way in maximizing your site accessibility, other than to use MDS technology. If your site ever goes down, this could mean crucial sales that are lost. With shared hosting there are a whole bunch of reasons outages could occur, but with a MDS plan both reliability and security are at the highest of standards. |
3) Is there anything I can't do with a MDS?
There are a few occasions when a MDS is not an appropriate hosting solution. If you need to compile your own kernel or directly access the hardware layer then a MDS solution will not work for you. |
